Miniatures Wargames

Wargames in Brackley

Wargames in Brackley – that’s how the BAD Gamers started. As a wargaming club in Brackley, and before that, in Bicester, playing Games Workshop’s Warhammer Fantasy Battles and Warhammer 40,000 (AKA WH40k).

While we have moved away from the mainstay of playing the mainstream Games Workshop wargames. As members have moved away from the Brackley area. We still have at least one, but normally two miniatures games played each Tuesday night, and many recent new members of the BAD Gamers have joined the club to play tabletop wargames

Big battles and Skirmishes

These games range from big battle games, such as ancient and medieval games of Hail Cesear and Basic Impetus. Through to refights of Napoleonic battles at brigade and army level using the Sam Mustafa Lassalle and Blucher systems. To smaller, company-sized engagements with the Rampant series of rules – Lion Rampant, Dragon Rampant, Pikeman’s Lament, and The Men Who Would Be Kings – or the TooFatLardies Sharp Practice. Down to skirmish-level games with the likes of Frostgrave, Stargrave, Pulp Alley, The Walking Dead, 7TV, and Chain of Command.

Wargames in Brackley – to the Stars

We also play regular games of Star Wars Armada, the fleet skirmish game set in the Star Wars universe. This was, like Hail Cesear, driven by a new member of the club coming along and wanting to get others to play. This is a regular dynamic in the club, as most are open to playing a range of wargames.

What wargames do we play?

While we are happy to play pretty much any wargame, many come along to join in with what games we already have in the club.

So for that, we have a broad range of miniatures wargames. Our wargaming club members from Banbury, Buckingham, Towcester, and Brackley have a large range of armies, from various historical and fictional times, plus the terrain and other items to put the games on.

Here are a few we’ve played recently;
